Reconstruction at the Governor's Palace Baths in Caesarea Maritima (or Caesarea Palestinae), Israel - This bathhouse is the only important remains of the private wing of the Byzantine Governor's Palace, almost entirely destroyed by the construction of medieval fortifications.  The ancient city and harbor of Caesarea Maritima were built by Herod the Great about 25-13 BCE.  Caesarea Maritima was named in honor of Augustus Caesar.
